Straight from Ireland's acclaimed Gate Theatre is the exciting new work by leading Beckett interpreter Barry McGovern, directed by one of Ireland's rising directors, Tom Creed. Watt is the extraordinary story of an itinerant character who walks one day from a train station to the home of a Mr. Knott whom he will serve. The bizarre adventures of Watt and his struggle to make sense of the world around him is told with elegant simplicity, immense pathos and explosive humor.

"ominous and funny...." -Irish Independent

"....quite simply outstanding..... And I got an almost delirious joy from hearing, and seeing, an hour-long distillation of Beckett's novel, Watt." -Michael Billington, Guardian

Watt premiered at the 2010 Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival and is presented at Under the Radar as part of Imagine Ireland, Culture Ireland's year-long season of contemporary Irish arts in the US in 2011.

The Gate Theatre (Director, Michael Colgan) is a not-for-profit organisation which is administered by the Edwards-MacLiammóir Trust and is funded in part by the Arts Council of Ireland. The Gate Theatre is grateful to the Irish Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport and the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival for their support of Watt.
