Scanning the Landscape

UTR and CULTUREBOT present a series of round table conversations on the most current and compelling ideas at work in the field of contemporary theater and the conditions in which it is being made.

Join leading practitioners, thinkers and supporters of cutting edge theater for lively discussions on the state of the field and what the future might hold.

Resource Room

This year UTR will feature the UTR RESOURCE ROOM, an interactive visual exhibit on display at The Public that will examine the history of ground-breaking performances at Under the Radar in the last decade.

January 8 - January 19, daily 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

 

Workshop

Sara De Roo and Jolente De Keersmaker from tg STAN lead a two-day acting workshop on the Belgian company’s unique actor-centered approach to making theater.

Session 1
Friday, Jan 10 11am – 2pm
tg STAN Methodology: Acting, Text, and the Collective

Session 2
Saturday, Jan 11 11am – 2pm
tg STAN in Practice: Performance and Presence

Limit 15 participants; priority given to actors. Participants are expected to attend both 3 hour sessions, and tg STAN’s JDX – a public enemy before participating.

The UTR Professional Symposium is a 2-day event that focuses on crucial issues in our evolving field, and features keynote speakers and panel discussions and a chance to see festival performances. Attendance at the Symposium is strictly limited to presenting and producing professionals in the field.  For registration application materials for the Symposium, please contact utrsymposium@publictheater.org

The Symposium is a pre-conference event of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) and takes place in conjunction with the Annual Members Conference. With more than 3,500 members worldwide, APAP is the largest national service and advocacy organization dedicated to bringing artists and audiences together through presenting and touring.
